4th of July Monster Cookies

Celebrate Independence Day with these delightful Monster Cookies packed with oats, chocolate chips, and red, white, and blue M&M candies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, browned
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup M&M candies
  • 1 cup oats

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and nutty.
  2. Mix the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then slowly add to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips, M&M candies, and oats until evenly distributed.
  6. Chill the dough in the fridge for at least 30 minutes for a chewier texture (optional).
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Scoop 2-tablespoon portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space in between.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers look slightly undercooked.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough is optional but recommended for a chewier cookie. You can substitute ingredients based on dietary preferences, such as using flax eggs for a vegan version or gluten-free flour for a gluten-free option.
