The Best Caesar Salad: A Classic Dish with a Twist

A delicious and nutritious Caesar Salad made from scratch with a flavorful homemade dressing, perfect as a starter or light main dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head Romaine Lettuce, washed and chopped
  • Croutons (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Caesar Dressing (made from scratch)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 23 Anchovy Fillets (optional)
  • 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper, freshly cracked

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients by washing and drying the romaine lettuce and cutting it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Make the croutons by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C), cutting bread into cubes, and baking with olive oil and spices for about 10 minutes.
  3. Whip up the dressing by combining minced garlic, optional anchovies, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and whisking in olive oil until emulsified.
  4. Combine the salad by adding romaine lettuce to a bowl, pouring over the dressing, and tossing gently.
  5. Add the freshly grated Parmesan cheese and toss lightly once more.
  6. Serve in bowls or on a platter, drizzling extra olive oil and adding more Parmesan if desired.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute Parmesan with nutritional yeast and omit anchovies. Adjust the seasoning of the dressing to your liking.
