Firecracker Red, White and Blue Cake

A fun and colorful cake perfect for patriotic celebrations like Fourth of July and Memorial Day.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into three bowls, adding red and blue food coloring to two, and leave the third white.
  5. Pour the colored batter into your prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  7. Frost the cooled layers with frosting, layering them and frosting the sides and top.
  8. Decorate with fresh fruits, whipped cream, or patriotic sprinkles.

Notes

This cake can be made ahead of time; just frost it on the day you plan to serve it for optimal freshness.
