Delicious and fluffy pumpkin cinnamon rolls that are perfect for fall gatherings or cozy mornings at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for thinning frosting)

Instructions

  1. Mix the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, salt, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until well blended.
  2. Add wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter, and egg until smooth.
  3. Combine it all: Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
  4. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead it gently for about 5 minutes.
  5. Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare the filling: Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Roll out the dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle.
  8. Spread the pumpkin goodness: Brush the dough with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar filling over the top.
  9. Roll it up: Carefully roll the dough tightly into a log.
  10. Slice the rolls: Slice the log into 12 rolls and place them in a greased baking dish.
  11. Let them rise again: Cover the rolls and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  12. Bake until gold: Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes.
  13. Prepare the frosting: Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until creamy.
  14. Cool and frost: Once rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls.

Notes

These rolls can also be frozen before the second rise and baked later.
