Homemade Mango Mousse

A light and creamy mango mousse that’s perfect for warm weather and impresses with its rich flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 packet unflavored gelatin (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons water (if using gelatin)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mangoes: Start by peeling and dicing your mangoes. Toss the diced mango into a blender or food processor to puree it until smooth.
  2. Dissolve the gelatin (if using): In a small bowl, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Warm it gently until fully dissolved and set aside to cool.
  3. Whip the cream: In a large mixing bowl, pour in the heavy cream and beat on medium speed until soft peaks form. Add the sugar and continue whipping until fluffy.
  4. Mix the mousse base: In a separate bowl, mix the mango puree with the vanilla extract and lemon juice. If using gelatin, drizzle it into the mango mixture while stirring continuously.
  5. Combine mixtures: Gently fold the whipped cream into the mango mixture using a spatula.
  6. Chill the mousse: Spoon the mixture into serving dishes, cover, and chill in the refrigerator for a minimum of 2 hours, or until set.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Garnish with extra mango pieces or whipped cream before serving.

Notes

For a vegan option, substitute heavy cream with silken tofu. Adjust sweetness to your liking by adding more sugar or honey.
