Savory Tennessee Onion Pizza

A delightful pizza featuring rich sautéed onions and two types of cheese on a crusty dough, inspired by Southern flavors.

  • Pizza Dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 3 cloves Garlic (crushed)
  • 1 cup Sharp White Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup Smoky Gouda Cheese (shredded)
  • 2 Sweet Vidalia Onions (sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Chop the onions, crush the garlic, and shred the cheeses.
  2. Sauté the onions: In a skillet, melt butter and sauté onions with salt and pepper for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic: Stir in the crushed garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Shape the pizza dough: Roll it out to about 12 inches in diameter.
  6. Top it off: Transfer to a baking sheet, drizzle with olive oil, spread onions and garlic, and sprinkle cheeses.
  7. Bake: Cook for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden and cheese is bubbly.
  8. Serve and enjoy: Let cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, drizzle with balsamic reduction or add fresh herbs before serving.
