Strawberry Pretzel Salad

A delightful blend of salty pretzels, sweet strawberries, and creamy layers makes this salad an unforgettable dessert that’s perfect for gatherings.

  • 3 cups pretzels, coarsely crushed
  • 0.75 cup butter, melted (1.5 sticks)
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping
  • 1 box (6 oz) strawberry-flavored Jello
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1.5 cups cold water
  • 2 lbs fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

Instructions

  1. Crush the pretzels: Place pretzels into a zip-top bag and crush them into coarse crumbs.
  2. Make the pretzel crust: Combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons of sugar in a mixing bowl.
  3. Prepare the crust: Press the pretzel mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes, then let cool completely.
  4. Mix the cream cheese layer: Beat softened cream cheese and 1 cup of granulated sugar until smooth, then fold in whipped topping.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture: Evenly spread over the cooled pretzel crust.
  6. Prepare the Jello: Dissolve strawberry Jello in boiling water, add cold water, and let cool.
  7. Mix in the strawberries: Fold hulled strawberries into the cooled Jello mixture and pour over the cream cheese layer.
  8. Chill and serve: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before cutting into squares.

Notes

For a fruity twist, try mixing in other berries! You can also add a layer of chocolate pudding for a chocolate version.
