Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

A comforting casserole that combines the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak in a creamy, cheesy dish perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or shaved steak)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1 red bell pepper (diced)
  • 8 oz (225 g) white mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup (120 ml) beef broth
  • 1 cup (115 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (115 g) shredded provolone cheese
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the olive oil, onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms and minced garlic to the pan and cook for another 4-5 minutes.
  4. Brown the ground beef in the skillet for 6-8 minutes until no longer pink.
  5. Season the mixture with Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and oregano.
  6. Prepare a separate bowl with blended cream cheese and beef broth until smooth.
  7. Combine the meat and veggie mixture in a casserole dish with the cream cheese mixture.
  8. Add shredded mozzarella and provolone cheese on top.
  9. Bake covered for about 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 10-15 minutes until golden.
  10. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

Feel free to experiment with different vegetables or cheese. This casserole is adaptable and tastes even better the next day!
