One-Pot Bold Honey BBQ Sausage Pasta

A deliciously simple one-pot pasta dish with smoky, sweet, and savory flavors, loaded with protein and creamy goodness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 12 ounces penne or rotini pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¾ cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup diced onions
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Sauté the onions: In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, toss in the diced onions. Sauté them until they’re translucent—around 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add your sausage: Introduce the sliced smoked sausage to the pot. Stir it in and let it brown slightly, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the pasta: Add the penne or rotini into the pot with the sausage and onions.
  4. Pour in the broth: Carefully add the chicken broth, ensuring that the pasta is submerged.
  5. Stir and bring to a simmer: Mix well, then bring the pot to a gentle simmer (about 5 minutes).
  6. Add the cream and BBQ sauce: Once pasta is cooked (around 10 minutes), reduce heat and stir in cream and BBQ sauce.
  7. Cheesy goodness: Add the shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted.
  8. Final seasoning: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or more BBQ sauce.
  9. Serve it up: Ladle into bowls and enjoy!
