4th of July Cake Balls

Celebrate Independence Day with colorful and delicious 4th of July Cake Balls that are fun to make and perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of cake mix (vanilla or red velvet)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 can of frosting (buttercream or cream cheese)
  • 1 cup white chocolate or candy melts
  • 1/2 cup red and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the package instructions on the cake mix. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, and oil, following the package’s instructions. Once mixed, pour it into a greased baking dish and bake until golden brown.
  2. Cool the cake completely in the pan.
  3. Crumble the cooled cake into a large bowl and add half of the can of frosting, mixing until combined.
  4. Form tablespoon-sized balls of the mixture and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Chill the formed balls in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  6. Melt the white chocolate or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
  7. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate, coating completely, and then return to the baking sheet while adding sprinkles on top.
  8. Let them sit at room temperature or in the fridge until the chocolate hardens.

Notes

These cake balls can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container. Experiment with different flavors and coatings for variety.
